Salvador Weather – Perfect for Travel

Salvador weather is a combination of dry and rainy seasons. But it is mostly pleasant varying from 19 degree Celsius to 34 degree Celsius. Although relatively warmer compared to Rio de Janeiro Salvador weather is less humid and tropical breeze coming from the ocean makes it ideal for visitors to enjoy their time in the city. Climate of Brazil can be classified into 5 types, which are tropical, semi-dry, equatorial, upland tropical and sub-tropical. To get a better picture, one can say that the seasons are completely opposite to that of U.S. and Europe. Sao Paulo and Brasilia have milder climates as they are geographically located on a plateau while Rio, Recife, Natal and Salvador are relatively warm due to their coastal location. Salvador weather is not so pleasant from the month of May to July when it rains although there will be some beautiful days here and there. The precipitation ranges from 165 mm per month to as high as 880 mm per month. So plan your vacation in such a way that it does not coincide with these months. Remaining months of the year are marvellous to holiday in Salvador. Wind is usually calm hovering around 10 kilometres per hour but can go as high as 50-70 kilometres per hour during high tides and gales. Salvador sees highest rush during the months of December, January, February and March when the city comes alive with travellers, culminating with Carnival which is held in the month of February. The hotel rates usually go up during this time and are in high demand, so make it a point to book in advance.

Although Salvador weather is enjoyable all round the year the months of May, June, July, August and September sees less visitors due to high precipitation. According to the meteorological department of Salvador which provides detailed weather reports the warmest month of the year is February taking into consideration average temperatures while in July people experiences the lowest average temperatures. June is the rainiest month of the year in Salvador. Sometimes the nights can get little cold so packing blankets in your luggage is advisable if you are visiting Salvador during June, July or August.
